Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as general reporter. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. She served on a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy reports, including arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
